![]() ![]() In fifty years, we've come a long, long way. The fundamental concept remains the same. The most important innovations on today's Boxster can be found in the engine compartment. The Boxster features a water-cooled flat six unit with four valve heads, VarioCam variable valve timing as well as digital engine management. As on every genuine Porsche Roadster, the engine is located at the heart of the car between the driver and the rear axle for optimum weight distribution.
The 2.7-litre Boxster engine develops a total of 162 kW (220 bhp) of power. Maximum torque of 260 Nm is available from as low as 4,750 rpm. The results are outstanding driveability, torque and cylinder charging, as well as extremely smooth running characteristics. 0 to 100 km/h takes just 6.6 seconds, while top speed with a manual gearbox is 250 km/h.
The Boxster chassis features McPherson strut suspension with transverse control arms and spring struts at front and rear. Strict use of lightweight materials has kept the overall weight of the Boxster low, particularly the unsprung masses. Mid-corner stability is exemplary, even when exploiting the car's performance to the full, and straight-line stability is second to none.
As with every Porsche, the standard specification package is selected with real driver requirements in mind, and includes driver's and passenger's side airbags (as part of the POSIP system). The Boxster can also be equipped with Porsche Stability Management (PSM) as an optional extra.
The interior of the car is designed to maximise your enjoyment of the Boxster experience. All synthetic components feature a black soft-touch paint finish, while the seats are covered in luxurious Alcantara.
The Boxster also comes with electric luggage compartment openers as standard. The front and rear compartments can also be opened from outside the car using the key remote.
All in all, an uncompromising blend of performance and elegance dedicated to the pure pleasure of driving.
