![]() ![]() No other car can look back on a tradition quite like the Porsche 911. First introduced in 1963, the original 911 shares just one feature with today's 911 Carrera: the Porsche crest.
Over the years, we've left many conventions behind. But never compromised our principles.
The new 911 Carrera is the latest stage in the evolution of the 911 concept. The revised exterior is an elegant example of our unceasing desire for perfection in everything we do.
The origins of the new 911 Cabriolet are simply unmistakable.
With its roofline flowing gracefully into the purposeful rear end, the Cabriolet offers all the elegance, athleticism and dynamic appeal of the 911 Carrera Coupé.
Now with virtually identical drag and lift coefficients to the standard 911, the new 911 Cabriolet is one of the sleekest convertibles in the world today.
The improved aerodynamics offer a number of important benefits, including enhanced performance and more reliable handling at speed, plus a much quieter ride and greater fuel economy.
Another revelation
To open the hood, simply push the button on the centre console. As the side windows descend, the hood compartment opens to receive the folding roof mechanism. The whole process is fully automated and, thanks to the ingenious folding action, takes just 20 seconds to complete.
The concertina system also ensures that the outer surface of the hood is stowed uppermost, guaranteeing maximum protection for the interior rooflining.
New improvements include a practical heated rear screen. Now less susceptible to changes in weather conditions, the new screen offers improved visibility, particularly during the cold winter months. It can also be quickly and easily replaced, if required.
The interior rooflining is made of sound-absorbent fabric and completely conceals the entire hood mechanism. As well as improving thermal insulation, the lining helps minimise unwanted noise for a more relaxing drive as well as maximum enjoyment of the distinctive flat-six sound.
The 911 Cabriolet comes with a tough aluminium hardtop weighing just 33 kg. Unlike plastic, aluminium does not shatter on impact. The interior is lined with sound-absorbent fabric, and all interior trim is carefully matched to the cockpit of your car.
Safety first
The new 911 Carrera Cabriolet is one of the safest convertible sports cars on the road. In addition to the outstanding torsional rigidity of the body, the new Cabriolet comes with a total of four driver and passenger airbags, including the Porsche Side Impact Protection System (POSIP).
The new Cabriolet also features a reinforced A-pillar and effective roll-over protection system that is automatically deployed if the car overturns
